AMSSA Launches New Website: A New Digital Hub for the Australasian Mercy Community
As spring brings a sense of renewal and new beginnings across the southern hemisphere, the Australasian Mercy Secondary Schools Association (AMSSA) has launched a completely refreshed website, providing a new digital home for Mercy schools and the wider Mercy community across Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
Officially launched on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, the new AMSSA website can be found at the familiar address: www.amssa.mercy.org.au.
The redesigned website has been developed as a comprehensive “one-stop shop” for Australasian Mercy schools, bringing together information, stories, resources and connections that celebrate the rich heritage and continuing mission of Mercy education.
A place to discover the Mercy story
Among the significant additions to the new website are dedicated sections exploring the history and traditions that underpin the Mercy movement.
Visitors can learn more about AMSSA’s history, the story of Catherine McAuley, the founding and current Mercy Sisters congregations, and the governance of AMSSA. The website also provides links to Mercy organisations and communities around the world, helping to highlight the global nature of the Mercy family.
For students and staff, the website provides information about Staff and Student Conferences, while the Resources section will provide opportunities to share materials and ideas across the AMSSA network.
The website also makes it easier to discover the schools that make up the AMSSA community. Visitors can browse member schools through a comprehensive list or explore them geographically using an interactive map.
Celebrating the stories of Mercy schools
A key feature of the new website is its focus on sharing the work and stories of AMSSA member schools.
The School Spotlight section will provide an opportunity to showcase individual schools, significant events, special projects and other initiatives that demonstrate Mercy education in action.
AMSSA Executive Officer Stephen Walsh is encouraging schools to contribute stories, photographs and other material that can be shared with the wider Mercy community.
“If you have an event that you want showcased, we can do it now in this section,” Stephen said. “All you have to do is provide the details, articles and photos and we can arrange it.”
The website’s News section will also become the central location for sharing current developments and stories from across the AMSSA network. Articles, photographs and videos can be submitted for consideration.
The move to a continually updated online news platform also means that AMSSA will no longer produce a quarterly newsletter. Instead, news and updates from across the Mercy community will be shared throughout the year via the website.
A website built by the Mercy community
The new website has been developed with the support of Tanaya Byrnes and Deb Carter from Carter Creative and Co., whose contribution to rebuilding the site has been acknowledged by AMSSA with thanks for their outstanding work.
However, the ongoing success of the website will depend on the participation of the wider Mercy community.
AMSSA member schools are encouraged to provide photographs, particularly landscape-format JPEG images, for inclusion on their school profiles. Schools and other members of the Mercy community are also invited to contribute news stories, articles, videos and resources that could benefit others across the network.
AMSSA is also seeking to build a database of key communication contacts across its member schools and the wider Mercy community. Schools and organisations are invited to provide the names, email addresses and institution details of appropriate contacts so that the network can continue to strengthen communication and collaboration.
A living resource for Mercy education
The launch of the new AMSSA website represents more than a redesign. It provides an opportunity to strengthen connections between Mercy schools, celebrate the work being undertaken across the network and make the story and resources of Mercy education more accessible.
As the website continues to grow, its content will increasingly reflect the people, schools, stories and experiences that make up the Australasian Mercy community.
AMSSA is inviting all members of the Mercy family to explore the new website, provide feedback and contribute content.
