Mercy Day Celebrations- Mount St Bernard’s

Mount St Bernard College concluded Term 3 with a joyful and meaningful celebration of Mercy Day, honouring the life and enduring legacy of Venerable Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy. The occasion gave our College community an opportunity to reflect on the Mercy values of compassion, hospitality, justice, service, and respect that continue to guide and inspire our daily lives.

The celebrations commenced with the Annual Scholarship Presentation Ceremony, a significant event recognising the achievements, dedication, and aspirations of our scholarship recipients. Students were acknowledged for their commitment and perseverance across academic, sporting, cultural, leadership, and personal pursuits, highlighting the diverse talents and strengths within our College community. We were honoured to welcome the Sisters of Mercy and Father Rob as special guests. Their presence added great significance to the occasion, and their support in presenting scholarships reflected the strong partnerships that continue to enrich our young people’s educational journey.

A highlight of the day was our Mercy Day Mass, celebrated by our newly appointed Parish Priest, Father Roy. Students, staff, families, and guests gathered in prayer and thanksgiving, reflecting on the rich Mercy tradition that has shaped the College for generations. We extend a warm welcome to Father Roy and look forward to his leadership and presence in the Mount St Bernard College community as we continue to nurture our school’s faith life.

Following Mass, the College community came together for an afternoon of celebration, connection, and friendly competition. The much-anticipated staff-versus-student volleyball match brought plenty of excitement and laughter, with Father Roy enthusiastically joining the staff team. Students and staff also enjoyed a range of traditional and historical games, fostering community spirit while celebrating Mercy Day traditions.

The day served as a powerful reminder of the strength of our Mercy heritage and the profound impact of the Sisters of Mercy, whose vision, courage, and commitment to education continue to inspire generations of young people. As a faith-filled community, we are grateful for the opportunity to come together in celebration, reflection, and gratitude.
