Mercy Day Celebrations at Red Bend Catholic College Forbes

Mercy Day celebrations at Red Bend Catholic College Forbes were held in August this year to allow for a College Mass with the Bishop of Wilcannia-Forbes Diocese, Bishop Columba MacBeth-Green.

The students and staff were very pleased to welcome Sr Jenny Rolls RSM, Sr Kath Barker RSM and Sr Nerida Tinkler RSM to our celebration of the Eucharist.  Bishop Columba took the opportunity to bless the Sisters of Mercy, and the whole College made our annual pledge to live out our Mercy heritage:

Loving God,

You call us and challenge us to be speakers of the truth, 

prophets of justice, workers in the vineyards, 

proclaimers of your Reign. 

We commit ourselves to walk in the way of Catherine McAuley. 

Give us the courage, strength, and the faith to live our lives in mercy.

Two students from each of our eight Houses were awarded an annual Mercy medal for students who “display quiet acts of kindness to others in our Red Bend community.”

Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes was founded in 1975 resulting from a merger of Our Lady of Mercy College Forbes, Our Lady of Mercy College, Parkes and Marist Brothers College, Forbes.  In 2026, we celebrated our centenary of Marist education in Forbes.
