International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for gender equality. In the library, SAC students made purple flowers to wear, as purple is the colour to commemorate this day. They read about and drew inspirational women and, also created images of themselves with the theme ‘Girls can do anything’.
It was an early start on Friday 6 March morning for the largest International Women’s Day Breakfast in Australia. Elizabeth Broderick AO reminded everyone present to do what we can, when we can, to work towards gender equality.
Year 12 student representatives were excited to meet Senator Penny Wong, who hosted the breakfast.
