Welcome to St Mary’s School
St Mary’s School, Goondiwindi, is a co-educational Catholic School that caters for Prep to Year 10. The school has a long tradition of providing quality education and care for children in Goondiwindi and the surrounding districts. Opening in 1911, by the Sisters of Mercy, it was initially a boarding and day school for students from Year 1 to 7.
In 1965, a high top was added so that education could continue to Grade 10. This secondary department closed in 1972. The Sisters of Mercy withdrew from the administration of the school in December 1983, and by 1987, St Mary’s became a totally lay-staffed school. In 2015, the school expanded to offer Year 7 and 8, with Year 9 and 10 being provided in 2018 and 2019.
St Mary’s School is committed to providing all students with every opportunity to reach their full potential. This is done in a caring, secure, and Catholic environment that promotes learning, resilience, self-discovery, and development of the whole child.
St Mary’s School is a happy place where each child’s education is enriched with joy, friendship and personal growth. The focus is to balance physical, spiritual, social and emotional growth
with academic achievement and self-discipline.
As a part of the Diocese of Toowoomba the school is supported by the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office and is an integral part of the St Mary’s Parish.
