Catherine McAuley students and staff have been using the time during Covid 19 to ramp up their knitting for the upcoming St Vincent de Paul Homelessness Awareness Week to be held in August. Each year the school takes part in Homelessness Awareness Week with a range of activities such as knitting scarves for the homeless, the Vinnies Sleep Out, fundraising stalls and other events. With the possibility of such events unknown at this stage the school has chosen instead to focus on knitting as many scarves for the homeless as they can and students, parents and staff have joined in.
School Principal Ms Mary Refalo is leading the charge and has used the time in Zoom meetings to multi-task and knit and Zoom at the same time. Teachers have joined in and created ‘Teacher Challenges’ posting a fun video on the school’s recently launched Instagram page (instagram.com/catherinemcauleywestmead) asking students what else they can do while they knit?
