AMSSA in the years 2020-2022 was unable to hold our Staff and Student Conferences because of the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic which caused school closures and prevented staff and students from travelling interstate and overseas. We were able to maintain some contact with schools such as through email and our Latest News section. One positive example of that was the co-operation of a number of staff across schools in Victoria and NSW to plan an online Mercy Day celebration.
The AMSSA Executive made the decision in 2021-2022 to not charge the annual levy as a cost saving to schools when we could not offer our Conferences.
With the lifting in 2022 of travel restrictions and with schools largely resuming school life as per pre Covid days, the AMSSA Executive commenced planning for the AMSSA Staff Conference to be held at All Hallows School in Brisbane in August 2023.
